For the fifth consecutive year, Pequeno Príncipe is among the best in the world in pediatrics

In the recently released World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026, by the American magazine Newsweek, the Pequeno Príncipe Hospital achieved a remarkable rise: it moved up eight positions and reached 70th place among the 250 best hospitals for pediatrics in the world. For the fifth consecutive year, it is first exclusively pediatric hospital in Latin America in the list and the only hospital in southern Brazil.

“Being recognized for the fifth time in the Newsweek global ranking, among the best hospitals in the world, reaffirms our scientific, human, and social excellence. It’s 106 years of history caring for children and their families through healthcare, teaching, research, innovation, and humanization. In a challenging philanthropic hospital scenario, we dedicate 74% of our care to the SUS [Brazilian Public Health System], with exactly the same specifications of materials, medicines, structure, and teams for all children. We share this recognition with all our employees, volunteers, partners, and investors, who join us in delivering the best medicine for our boys and girls. Boldly, we live the present and dare the future, with the certainty that every gesture matters and that no child deserves to be forgotten! We dream of a Brazil where every child can be born, grow, develop, and transform in fullness,” emphasizes the Hospital’s executive director, Ety Cristina Forte Carneiro.

  • Brazil take a historic step in the protection of childhood. The approval of Bill 2628/2022 opens a new chapter in the defense of children and adolescents in the digital environment — a space increasingly present in the lives of Brazilians, but still marked by regulatory gaps. Just as the Brazilian Child and Adolescent Statute (known as ECA), more than 30 years ago, inaugurated a new way of seeing boys and girls as citizens with rights, Bill 2628 updates this vision for one of the greatest contemporary challenges: social networks and digital consumption.
  • From Pequeno Príncipe to the world: young researchers take Brazilian science to centers of excellence. The science born in the classrooms of Pequeno Príncipe College and in the laboratories of the Pelé Pequeno Príncipe Research Institute has crossed borders. In recent months, four PhD students of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology Applied to Child and Adolescent Health have embarked — or are about to embark — on sandwich PhD internships at renowned international institutions.
