An event that sparkled with solidarity and fine dining

Held since 2011, the Pequeno Príncipe Gala, a night that gathers haute cuisine, culture and solidarity, is essential to sustain our ongoing mission of promoting children’s health through assistance, teaching and research. The event is more than just a philanthropic dinner; it is a celebration of life and of the hard work done by many people in almost 100 years of the Hospital’s existence.

This year, the event was held in New York City on the October 12th, in the esteemed Gotham Hall ballroom. Not only was the Gala a hit with those who attended, but also in terms of fundraising: 2017’s edition successfully raised $1,1 million, which will be going towards the Institution’s development of research, innovation, assistance, human resources, and acquiring materials, equipment and medication.

What makes this celebration so unique is how it brings together so many special, dedicated individuals who put in their time, effort and resources into transforming the lives of millions of children and teenagers in Brazil. One of these people is Chef Claude Troisgros, a patron to the event, who has participated in the Galas since 2011 and invited a shining team of chefs such as Thomas Troisgros, Roberta Sudbrack and Daniel Boulud to prepare a delicious dinner to our guests. One of the evening’s highlights was definitely Doctor Rodrigo Vianna, the night’s honoree, acclaimed by the audience with his touching speech, aligned with Pequeno Príncipe’s mission. Vianna, a Curitiba native, is currently the director of the Miami Transplant Institute, as well as the chief of liver, intestinal and multivisceral transplants and a pioneer in his field.

Our dedicated co-chairs Daniele Giacomazzi Behring, Amália Spinardi Thompson Motta and Belinda Badcock Brito, through their tireless efforts and mobilization of their social networks on behalf of a greater cause, are an instrumental part of making this night come together. Their empathy, solidarity and dedication are an inspiration to us all.
